HELLOOOO readers! Well, first off I wanna say HAPPY EASTER!!! I mean, I know I’m a li’l late, but I had planned out this Easter post annnd I dunno, it just didn’t happen. :,( But it is time for the sign up to OFFICIALLY be open to join Heir to His Crown’s beta reading team! First I must give the HUGEST shout-out and express my DEEPEST thanks to some of the AH-MAY-ZING gals who read through some of the opening chapters of my novel: Jane, Allie Andersen, and Katherine. Man, they’ve done an INCREDIBLE job in feedback and all that good stuff. So THANK YOU ALL SO SO SOOOOO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyway before we get to the stuff about how to join my beta reading team, I thought I’d talk a bit more about my story, Heir to His Crown, so you’ll know if this is a story you’d like to read as a beta or not! First let’s get down to the facts:
Genre: medieval fantasy fiction, action-adventure fiction
Age range: 13+ (Note: this is just a general range, it’s not a set in stone age. The only trigger warnings is that there are some intense scenes, death, and fights, but nothing suuuper gory, and some romance, but there’s nothing inappropriate, nothing beyond a kiss. There’s no cuss words or anything immoral.)
Length: I don’t know yet for sure, but I’m still aiming for 80,000 words. It’s possible it could go to 85 or 75, I can’t tell yet.
How long do I aim for my beta readers to be reading it: 3-4 months
A fight for the crown suddenly became a fight for his life.
At the age of seven, Prince Keenum’s country Cedulnia was overthrown and his father was killed. Keenum witnessed his country fall subject to Valdork, a tyrannical ruler, and Keenum became a prisoner within his own kingdom. Now, nine years later, Keenum is given a chance to reclaim his father’s crown. But he must blindly trust strangers and learn secrets that will forever change the way he views his closest friends and the people of his country.
When Keenum joins the kingdom’s most infamous rebel group, he takes the task of journeying to foreign lands beyond Cedulnia and gathering weapons for a war the leader of the rebel group is planning. However, this simple quest is not as easy as Keenum anticipated with Valdork’s guards hunting him, betrayers lurking among the rebel group, dangerous magical daggers, a mysterious girl who threatens to steal his heart, and his own past haunting his every step. In the end, Cedulnia’s crown can only have one successor, and everyone, including Prince Keenum, will fight to the death.

INTERVIEW WITH KEENUM FROM HEIR TO HIS CROWN
(I wanted to do a more in-depth interview like I did with Colin, but time didn’t allow for that, plus I’m still planning to do one of those interviews for Robyn and possibly Genie. Sooo this is just a few quick questions I had with Prince Keenum!! <33)
Me: Hello, Prince Keenum, thank you for joining me today! I’m going to do a few fun questions and then a few serious ones. Here’s my first question for you: What’s your favorite color? (It’s a must-have question in the TWN fam.)
Keenum: Uh…I’ve never really thought about it. How ’bout a forest green?
Me: Oooh I like that! Next question: What’s your favorite genre to write in (’cause for those of you who don’t know, Keenum likes writing, but he won’t admit it if you asked him about it. 😉 )
Keenum: I like to try different things. I really enjoy recording old Cedulnian legends that most of my people don’t know about.
Me: Awesome! Okay if you could have any kind of superpower, what would you have?
Keenum: super strength
Me: Now the more serious questions. What’s your deepest, darkest secret?
Keenum: Uh…you told me this wasn’t going to get personal.
Me: *rolls eyes* Obviously, I wouldn’t tell you the interview was going to get personal, ’cause then you wouldn’t have agreed to do it.
Keenum: So you lied to get me here.
Me: Umm…*rushes to add* Next question! Have you ever fallen in love?
Keeenum: And going any further would then make this interview get personal.
Me: *huff* Surprisingly, I think I’d rather interview Colin.
Keenum: *winces* I honestly don’t think I can be in the same room with Colin again.
Me: Yeeeah, letting you, Colin, and Robyn have a conversation together wasn’t my smartest idea, but it was needed for that future post! (Stay tuned TWN peeps!)
Keenum: Though, Robyn wasn’t much better. She kept reaching for her sword, and I honestly thought she was gonna hurt someone. I was hoping it’d be Colin.
Me: Yeah, I’m not sure what to say to that. So I think that’s enough questions. THANK YOU Keenum for joining me for this brief interview!!!!!!!!
Keenum: No problem! Your blog’s really cool!
Me: Aww, thanks!!
Scene from Heir to His Crown:
The guard behind me let out a full round of laughter. Kylie turned her glare to him. Hard. From the sudden silence filling the space behind me, I knew I wasn’t the only one who cowered under that glare.
“Laugh now. Just wait until you see this boy you call a worthless prince free Cedulnia and come here to finally claim the crown. Just wait. Will you laugh then? You think you’re so high and mighty now, but kingdoms crumble. I see it happen every day. You will never be sturdy. Like how Broen met his reign’s end, so will Valdork, and eventually Keenum. These things never last. So, what are you gonna do about it?”
I wished more people heard this. I wished they would all know the truth behind power. It could corrupt. It only destroyed. It was abused. If we all knew the truth, I figured more people would shy away from it and only the courageous would take the risk to lead.
“We should tell him, you know.” Amadeo broke the silence. I shot my head in his direction. Tell me what? Jutrucil mouthed no, like that would keep my curiosity at bay. It only ignited it to burn brighter.
Kylie crossed her arms. “If anyone should know, Keenum has every right to. Forgot why you wanted him free from Valdork in the first place, Jutrucil? It wasn’t so you two could bicker and try to best the other.”
I opened my mouth to remind her I wasn’t trying to best anyone.
And final one I promise
Kylie’s face had gone even paler. Thomas beamed like he had solved all of our problems but I knew we would have to move too fast. Kylie wouldn’t be able to keep up but we couldn’t leave her behind. I nodded slowly, absorbing this new plan. If we didn’t go through with it all would be lost. Everything we had done to come to this moment would be a waste. We knew what was required of us and we would have to offer it to make it to the end.
For my father.
I couldn’t be a leader. I’d never have true hero material. But I could still fight until my last breath. And I knew that’s how it would end – with my last breath.
So that’s all the fun stuff I have for you!!!!!! If you’re not interested in beta reading, then please feel free to go ahead and skip to the comments. Lemme know what you think of Keenum and Heir to His Crown. And if you have any questions you’d like to ask Prince Keenum, put them in the comments and he’ll answer them!!!!!!!! (And we need to take a vote about who should be my next character interview: Robyn or Genie. So if you wanna vote, lemme know in the comments which interview you’d like to see next!)
FOR BETA READERS:
So you’re thinking about joining the beta reading team for Heir to His Crown? Well let me explain how it’s gonna work. You’ll have this lovely form you’ll have to fill out if you want to be on the list. Then beginning in May, I will send you somewhere from one to two chapters a week for you to read (probably on Fridays is when I’ll send them out). Any chapters that are long will be single but if there are some short ones, then there might be two chapters. However, because May is about the time when testing comes and school ends, that first month, it’ll only be one (or two) chapters every other week and then as we move into June, I’ll be a bit more consistent in sending out chapters. I may adjust my chapter sending as we get more into the beta reading to fit the pace that most of the readers are reading through the chapters. How the chapters will be sent to my readers is something I’m still figuring out. XD I’d like to have a group docs and then for those who don’t like/have google can request to be sent either a Word Docx or a PDF. Or if you’d rather not critique in a group google docs, for personal reasons, and would rather have your own, then you can request that. There will be a section in the form where you can say how you’d like to critique it. Also please note: SIGN UPS ARE OPENED ONLY UNTIL APRIL 24TH.
Now, I know we all have pretty busy lives and I TOTALLY GET that a lot of us don’t need anything else added to your plate. So don’t stress ONE BIT if you don’t have time to read through my story. And you don’t have to explain to me why you can’t do it. If you would like to, then you can sign up here. If not, no stress, y’all!
For those of you who do join the team, I hope we will all have a suuuper awesome and fun time!!! This story is one that is very near and dear to my heart and I hope it’ll be one you enjoy as well!!!!! Also, I’d like to give out some special prizes for my beta reading team as a way to say thank you, so if you have ANY suggestions/ideas totally lemme know. <333 To those of you who do join the team, I want to in advance give you the HUGEST AND BIGGEST THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!!!!!!!!!! I always get kinda nervous when it comes to asking for beta readers, ’cause I don’t want anyone to feel obligated and all that stuff. So it is VERY appreciated!!!!!!!!! Er, yeah, I don’t know how to end this post. BYE!!!!
And now I shall make a dramatic exit!
