The fabulous Alexa blogs about writing-related things on her site Teen Pulse and blogs about fangirling-related things on her site A Fangirl’s Hideaway. She is a writer as well and one of her favorite authors is Jennifer A. Nielsen! *high fives* πŸ˜€ Some of the things she will be posting on A Fangirl’s Hideaway is DIY and I’ve been super EXCITED about that!!!

The amazing Kristianne blogs about her experience as a missionary kid, writing-related things, and other awesome stuff on her site Whimsical Wanderings. She also has this amazing post on writing description that I recommend you read. Kristianne is so incredible and I can’t wait to get to know her more. Joy Caroline has been a follower of TWN for awhile now and it has been such a blessing getting to know her. I love her passion about Jesus and how she wants to glorify Him in her writing.πŸ˜€ She is so supportive and encouraging and very talented writer!!!

Alright, it’s time for cake:Β

What type of cake does everyone prefer? I like any kind of cake but some of my favorites would be chocolate, coconut cream cake, and there was this one time for my birthday we had an orange-flavored cake. It was DE-LI-CIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! πŸ™‚

Um…guys, I thought this was a party. Someone do something! Do your magical asterisks or whatever. Passing out cake and dancing doesn’t equal party. Just don’t let Genie know about this. She actually loves parties…and you guys don’t want her spamming the comments. Though, then she’d probably actually make it feel like a party. Oh, and for favorite cake, probably chocolate. You kind of can’t go wrong with chocolate.

    • Katherine

What up, Colin? Long time no chat. Lol, cake and dancing can still equal party, but if you want to do something through asterisks be my guest. Maybe some party balloons? Or chocolate? You know what, you can be the DJ. Ooh, Genie loves parties too? Lol. Yeah, I feel like she would really make this awesome! YES!!!! Chocolate forever!!!!!!!πŸ˜† *high fives*

  • Alexa

    GUYS GUYS GUYS
THIS IS COMPLETELY IRRELEVANT TO THE POST BUT GUESS WHAT I HAVE EXCITING NEWS!

    Huh, this is fun.

KEEPER OF THE LOST CITIES IS GETTING A MOVIE!
    LIKE A MOVIE!
Not gonna lie, I’m kinda worried about it. 😬 What if they wreck it? I have faith in Ben Affleck (he’s directing it) because according to Shannon Messenger he’s read all the books and is a big Keeper fan. They haven’t casted it yet, btw.

    • Katherine

Yay!!!! I love exciting news!!!!!!!!!! *jumping up and down with anticipation*

      I know, right?!!!😁

*GASP* THAT IS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒ THANK YOU FOR TELLING ME THIS INCREDIBLE NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!! Now, I’m gonna have to buy the book and read it asap! I’ve been really wanting to read it. Fingers crossed the movie will turn out good. That’s great that the director is also a Keeper fan!!!!!!!!!! I’m sure he will do it right. Who do you think they should cast for the MC?

    • Issabelle

YAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYY!!!!!!!! I’m sooooo happy for you!!!! I had heard about it earlier this week and was wondering if you’d heard the news! Yes, anytime someone talks about KotLC, I always think about how much you love them. XD ONE OF THESE DAYS, I plan to read it!!!!! Hopefully soon!

      • Joy Caroline

Hi Issa! I just wanted to ask you a quick question.

So I’ve started looking into Christian agents and publishing houses and stuff. Not that I’ll be ready to submit anytime soon, but I just want to be educated about the process so I’ll know what the future holds. (If that makes any sense.)

Anyways, I know you’ve submitted to agents, and I’m wondering how did you find them? Like, do you have any thoughts on how to find the right agents that you would actually want to represent you?

        Thanks!

        • Issabelle

Hey, JC!!!! Okay!! Bring ’em on!!!!!

Ooooh, AWESOME!!!!!! Yeah, I understand! That’s actually great for you to go ahead and be getting ready for when the time comes!!!!! Oh, yeah, that makes PERFECT sense!!! That’s a good idea!

So, there’s actually many ways to find agents. I first recommend thinking about books similar to yours and googling who the agent for that author is! I also google agents seeking books in the genre I have. There are platforms like QueryTracker and Publisher’s Marketplace that are all about agents. When you find a list of agents you’d like to submit to, go to their agency’s website and there you can usually find a list of what books they’re looking for. For you, though, you’d have to specifically look for agents accepting Christian fiction. Sadly, it’s VERY limited. Which is probably why, in the Christian market, a lot of publishing companies won’t require you to have an agent. Even Zondervan – a big time publishing company for the Christian market – has times when they accept submissions from authors without literary representation. (I think. You should probably double check me on that one.) I found this website that might help you out. https://literaryagencies.com/christian-literary-agents/ Also, I should add this in here. NO LITERARY AGENT OR PUBLISHING COMPANY SHOULD EVER ASK YOU FOR MONEY!!! If anyone asks you for any money, it is a scam. Though, you probably already knew that, but in case not, just a heads up! I hope this helps you!!!!! You’re very welcome!

  • Joy Caroline

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! This was so helpful!

I did not know about those platforms, so I’m really glad you mentioned them! I’ll definitely have to check them out. Yeah, it’s true that the options for Christian publishing are pretty limited. That’s why I really want to see more Biblical fiction out there! I believe Zondervan does accept unsolicited manuscripts, but only for nonfiction works.

Thank you so, so much! I checked out that link and it looks like there is so much information and so many agents to research. I’m planning to go through them in my free time, just so I can see what’s out there and maybe even get a few options lined up early. I have a few agents and publishing houses bookmarked already, just so I can keep them in mind.

Thanks for letting me know about the money. Definitely grateful you mentioned that!

    Again, thanks a TON!

    • Issabelle

      YESS!!! I’m soooo glad!!!!!! <33

I didn't know about them either until I actually started the querying process, so I'm VERY HAPPY to help!!!! On the flip side, though, because the Christian market is still growing, you don't have as much competition. YESSS!!!! I totally think we have a great need for more AMAZING Biblical fiction!!!!!! Which, you might get tired of me saying this (or..er...*cough* typing this) but you NEED to check out a book (ANY book) by Chuck Black. He's one of my favorite authors and writes AMAZING Biblical fiction!!!!! I think you'd REALLY enjoy it! (Yes, this is gonna be just like The False Prince, where I talk about him nonstop until you read it. XD) Aah, that's good to know! I don't always know all of the ends and outs of what's going on in the Christian market. I should probably do some more research for you!! (Okay, don't think this is weird, but I have kind of taken it as my personal responsibility to make sure your novel gets published.)

AWESOME!!!!! You're sUpEr welcome! Of course, girl!! SERIOUSLY, ANY TIME!!!!!!

      • Joy Caroline

Yay! Not so much competition is a very good thing! LOL, you’re very persuasive. I will give Chuck Black a Google.

Aww, thanks! TWN has literally been my biggest supporter. I don’t think that’s weird at all! I think it’s super sweet!

        • Issabelle

YESS!!!! VERY good thing!!! LOL!!! I really am, try having to live with me. Even Katherine will tell you, I can keep pestering people until I succeed. XD WHOOO!!!! *pumps fist in the air* Mission: Accomplished!!!!!!!!

You’re welcome!!! Aww, really? That makes me SUPER HAPPY!!!!! WHOOOO!!!!!! Phew!! ‘Cause you never know if something I say comes off really strange and weird!! XD

  • Jen

Three days is still considered fashionably late to a party, yes? XD Congrats on the new blogs, ladies!!! *offers welcome cake and cookies* I already knew about Joy Caroline’s but I’ll go check out the other two! ^_^

    • Katherine
