Greetings readers!!! It brings us great pleasure that you have stumbled upon this blog. We trust that you are doing well! As you can see from the title, today is OUR ONE YEAR BLOGIVERSARY!!!!!!!!! Cue the fireworks!
The past year has been a wild, crazy, fun ride from seeing this li’l ole idea become a reality, reaching over 100 followers, watching the site expand and being able to help teen authors, and even on the verge of releasing an anthology! None of us at TWN could’ve possibly ever dreamed what one whim of an idea could’ve become!!!!!! Has everything gone smoothly and as planned? Naaah, not even by a long shot. But we wouldn’t change any of it. The things we’ve been able to do have been amazing from Escaping the Blogosphere to TWN’s Imagine Anthology and guest posts we’ve been able to have and do, and that doesn’t even include linkups, blog tags, scavenger hunts, cover reveals, etc., that we’ve had the honor to join in on. But what stays with each of us the most would be the friendships we’ve made through this journey. Each TWNer is a huge blessing to us, and we thank God for each of you and the amazing things He has done for this li’l ole blog!!!!!!! But y’all may be wondering what exactly is TWN’s story for how it came to be.
Well, we can’t remember when the idea first came but it was somewhere around May of 2020. We had been listening in on webinars that Teen Author Boot Camp was doing because of the lockdown and everything going on. This was about the time when we decided we wanted to be able to help teen authors out like how TABC was doing. And somewhere along the way we decided we wanted to start up a blog. (Issabelle jumping in real quick to tell the story of how we got the name: I remember how I was just thinking over the idea of a blog and was trying to come up with a cool name for it. I knew I wanted teen writers/authors somewhere in the title (like Teen Author Boot Camp and Go Teen Writers) and I remembered how my mom would always talk about reading nooks and then bam. The title idea came. Teen Writers’ Nook.)
Pssst fun fact, TWN was at first Teen Writer’s Nook with the apostrophe before the “s” but about a couple months after we started our blog, we decided we wanted the apostrophe to go after the “s” to indicate multiple authors writing together.
Anyway, we first started setting up the Teen Writers’ Nook website somewhere around Memorial Day (don’t remember the actual date) through Google Sites. Katherine then began researching stuff blogs needed and we discovered some pretty interesting news.
Blogs kinda needed this thing known as a commenting section and well, the new Google Sites didn’t have it. So we had to switch. We ended up moving to Wix and began working on the new site around July the Fourth weekend. (Funny how all of this stuff started on holidays. XD)
One year ago on this day, our older sister came over for a girl day. We watched the live action Aladdin, talked, and just hung out for the day. Near the end, we showed her the nearly completed Teen Writers’ Nook. She helped us set up the contact page and then clicked that published button and
Teen Writers’ Nook was born. (Yeeeah if you wanna see how terrible we were at designing skills you may find the first TWN site right over here, but proceed at your own risk. XD) And that was the start of TWN. It wasn’t until near the end of September that we decided to change yet again and come to the site that we now have. So, SUPER HUGE SHOUTOUT TO OUR BIG SISTER!!!!!!!!!! (Girl, you’re the BEST!!!!! *hugs*❤️❤️❤️)
Also, we realized a month ago that our blogiversary is one day before Harry Potter’s birthday. Wishing you a happy birthday, Harry!!!🥳
Now, it’s time for the All About You Around the Blogosphere tag. Thank you so much, Alexa, for tagging us!!!!!!!
Katherine’s answers are in pink. Alana’s answers are in blue. And Issabelle’s answers are in purple.
1. Answer the questions below on your blog.
2. Tag at least a couple other bloggers.
3. Have them answer these questions!
What’s your favorite book/book series and why?
The Frog Princess series, Emily Windsnap series, The Princess Companion, The Ascendance Series, etc. I love fairy-tale like qualities and the creativity in these books. Plus, in The False Prince, I love how passionate Sage is to help his country and people.
Little House, Narnia, Harry Potter, and Little Women. Because they’re well-written. (That was the first thing I could think of).
Ummm if most of y’all don’t know the answer to this question by now, I’m gonna have to ask where you’ve been for the past year. XD Okay, but for our new readers this would be the Ascendance Series by Jennifer A. Nielsen!!!!!!!!! Why? Well, cuz it be the best!!!! Nuff said!!!! (But also cuz Sage is SUCH an awesome, unique character, the plot twists were spot on, and it’s a book you just cannot put down. Etc., etc., etc.)
Who is your favorite author?
*takes a deep breath* E. D. Baker, Gail Carson Levine, Liz Kessler, Jennifer A. Nielsen, Melanie Cellier (newly added to the list), and Grace A. Johnson (also newly added to the list).
I don’t have a favorite.
Jennifer A. Nielsen (duh), Grace A. Johnson (one of the best teen authors to ever walk planet earth), Ally Carter, Melanie Dickerson, Chuck Black, and Issabelle Perry (I hear she’s got some pretty great stuff going on XD).
What is your favorite food?
Pasta and chocolate for the win folks!
What gives you inspiration for your books?
Music, movies, other books, nature, all animals, people or characters, the Bible, and God.
Books, music, LOTR and other movies I really like, literally EVERYTHING, and of course Jesus (cuz fun fact: without Jesus I literally would not be writing, since I had VERY DIFFERENT plans for my life… which also means I wouldn’t be here, so I owe Him my all!!).
If you could live anywhere, where would it be?
A remote island.
South Dakota for the USA. Australia, Ireland, or the United Kingdom for somewhere else.
CARTHYA!!!!!!!!!! (From The False Prince by Jennifer A. Nielsen… y’all really need to read that book. XD)
Are you an introvert or an extrovert?
Definitely both, but I tend to lean more toward the extroverted side. 😉
If you had a warning label, what would yours say?
Oooh, good question! Probably that I’m a Jesus freak. (Anyone heard of the song “Jesus Freak” by DC Talk [aka TobyMac’s earlier band]?)
Be warned: Issabelle is a writer who has embraced her insanity side so be prepared for ramblings that make no sense, utter wackiness, and just generally to laugh until your sides hurt. (I was gonna say laugh your head off but then this post would’ve gotten intense really fast. XD)
