Go on an Adventure With This Great Book List!

Hey Guys!!! This is Alana. Sorry I haven’t posted anything since December. (Wow! December! Has it really been that long? It feels like it’s been 6 months ago.) I have been mainly spending my life in Narnia, the best place to be at. (Basically because of Aslan).

It’s nice to get out of the house after spending a whole year being cooped up inside. Now that the restrictions have been lifted, I decided to create a summer-reading book list that might make you want to go on your own adventures.

#1. Little House on the Prairie

by Laura Ingalls Wilder

Since we want to travel to new places, I thought Little House on the Prairie would be a great choice to read. Set in the late 1800s, it shows the Ingalls family leaving their home in Wisconsin and moving to the vast prairies of Kansas – a place they have never been before – to make a new and better life for them.

#2. The Chronicles of Narnia

by C. S. Lewis

The whole series are about kids from the real world who journey into the magical land of Narnia and have many adventures there. I thought the stories would be perfect to read as we start to have our own adventures out in the world.

#3. The Problim Children

by Natalie Lloyd

In this book, seven siblings – the Problim children – who move into their late-grandfather’s house after their own house got blown up. They have to proved that they are the descendents of their grandfather in 3 weeks before a terrible woman tries to send each Problim child to 7 different continents. It is a great book for someone who loves mysteries, treasure huntings, and even humor.

#4. The Captive Kingdom

by Jennifer A. Nielsen

For all False Prince fans out there, here is the fourth book in the series. Sage is on another life-threatening adventure with his friends in this suspenseful swashbuckling tale sure to rival any of those told on the high seas. A perfect book to read when you have nothing left to do.

#5. The Healer’s Apprentice

by Melanie Dickerson

This one is a Christian-romance retailing of Sleeping Beauty. The story is about a girl, an apprentice to a healer in Germany, who falls in love with the prince after tending to the wound in his leg. It is a wonderful, sweet story for YA readers to enjoy.

And finally an honorable mention (because you can’t actually buy it at this moment)….

#6. Heir to His Crown

by Issabelle Perry

Of course I would use my sister’s book. In this book a prince is on a quest to save his kingdom from a tyrannical ruler that has invaded his country. Anyone who loves suspense, action-adventure, or high/medieval fantasy, will for sure love this book. So be sure to grab a copy when it releases in hopefully the next three years. I’m kidding…mostly.

Have you heard of any of these books before? Do any of them look interesting? What’s your favorite adventure novel? Please answer in the comments below. I can’t wait to hear from you.

Wait, in The Problim Children, doesn’t that mean that one of the kids is sent to Antarctica since there are only 7 continents? I sure hope I’m not the one being sent to Antarctica! 😂 Anyway, wonderful list!

    • Alana

Hi, Madeleine. Yeah, one of the kids would be sent off to Antarctica since it is a continent. I definitely wouldn’t want to be sent off to Antarctica either. I would prefer Europe, Africa, or Australia. Thank you so much for reading and commenting ❤️

Wow, that’s a long time to not post!! I haven’t even been blogging for that long!! 😱😱
So in that case, it’s so nice to meet you, Alana!!

That is an awesome book list! I’ll go check those books out!! 🙃😉

  • Joy C. Woodbury

Hi, Alana! Haven’t seen you in a while. 😉

I’ve been a fan of the Little House on the Prairie series since I could first read. Sometime this summer I should pull out the series again and reread a few. Along with Anne of Green Gables – haven’t reread that series in a while either. Have you read Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm? The protagonist seems like a cross between Laura and Anne.

It was awesome to hear from you again!

    • Alana

Hi, Joy. I am a HUGE Little House fan. I have re-read the books so many times, that the covers are starting to come off. I also love watching the TV series, Little House on the Prairie. And a lot of my free time is spent by mainly researching facts about the Ingalls family. I have not read Anne of Green Gables or Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm yet, but they are books that I would like to read soon. Glad to see you again.🏡❤️

  • Lily

Hi Alana! Long time no see! I love your book recommendations. I’ve read almost all of them except Melanie Dickerson (Isabelle’s, of course, but can’t wait to see it published someday!) and The Problim Children (I love a good mystery story! *adds to massively growing tbr pile*)

Hmm, I remember liking the Squire’s Tale by Gerald Morris (it’s in need of serious re-read though.) And his knights series for younger MG were just hilarious! I’d say they were some of my favorite adventure books growing up.

    • Alana

Hi, Lily. It’s nice to see you again. The Healer’s Apprentice and The Problim Children are both really good books. I really like them. I haven’t read of the Squire’s Tale or the knights series. I’m gonna have to read them. I always like book suggestions to expand my variety.📕❤️

    • Alana

Hi Shruthika. Thank you for welcoming me (if that makes sense). All of those books are AWESOME!!!! I hope you enjoy them!📚❤️

  • Victoria

*Gasps* ALANA’S BAAACK!!!!! It’s so awesome to hear from you again! (And Narnia’s a perfectly acceptable reason for not being around very much!) ;P I’ve heard of all of these books except for The Problim Children, but it looks like a really cool read! Thanks for the recommendations!!! 😀

    • Alana

Hi Victoria. YES, I’M BACK!!!!! It is great to be back!! Although, I miss being in Narnia, ALOT! The Problim Children is a really great book! There is also a second and third book to it. Glad to see you again! 👫🏻❤️

      • IkrSelah

        Ooh, this list is awesome!
I’ve read about half of The Chronicles of Narnia, and The Captive Kingdom. The Problim Children series sounds really cool!
My favorite adventure book (besides the Ascendance Series) is probably The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle by AVI. I LOVE that book!

        • Alana

Hi, IkrSelah. I’m so happy you think it is awesome. The Problem Children series are really great books to read. I have never heard of The True Confessions before, but it sounds cool to read. I’ll have to check it out sometime.
PS. I love your profile picture. 📚❤️

  • Trixie

Hello Alana! *waves* I missed seeing you around. This was a nice, short, fun post. I really like The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe but I never really got into any of the other books. My favorite adventure book would have to be Charlie Thorne and the Lost City by Stuart Gibbs. It’s action packed and mystery filled and very creative. With some cute romance between two of the adult characters. It’s also a sequel so make sure to read the Charlie Thorne and the Last Equation first XD Lol

    • Alana

Hi, Trixie. *waves back* I’m glad you like the post. I love The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, and I have read all the other books in the series and really enjoyed them. I haven’t read Charlie Thorne and the Lost City, but it sounds cool. I’ll make sure to read it.🦁❤️

  • Alexa

*celebrates* Alana’s back!!! We missed you! This is totally the best book list ever!! I’ve heard that Narnia is SOO good, so I really need to get reading and watching the movies! I can not wait! *squeals* The Captive Kingdom was AMAZING as well! I was so happy when I saw that book on your list!! And Heir to His Crown has been FABULOUS! I can’t wait to grab a hard copy just as you said! 😉
My favorite adventure novel? Hmm, well I really love The Ascendance Series because those books are all about adventure! And it seems like you’ve already read all the books, so I’m sure you can relate!!
Good to have you back, Alana! ❤

    • Alana

Hi, Alexa. YES!! I’m BACK!!!! Narnia is the BEST!!!! I’ve read all the books and seen the movies, and I just LOVE them!!!! I also really love the Ascendance Series! It is hard to stop in the middle of one of those books. They are some of the best adventure books to read! And Heir to His Crown is just so AWESOME! I’m so glad to see you again!📚❤️

  • Lorelei A.

Cool! I will definitely be checking out some of these!!! I have actually read the whole Laura Ingalls series (it is sooo good!) and the Hagenheim series (The Healer’s Apprentice is no-joke my FAVORITE BOOK EVER!!!!! 😊) Thank you, and it’s nice to meet you, Alana! (My second cousin once removed has that name XD)

Also, loved your joke about 6 months. 😂

    • Alana

Hi, Lorelei. It is so great to know that you have all of the Little House books by Laura Ingalls Wilder! I am a HUGE fan of Little House!!!! I haven’t read a lot of the books in the Hagenheim series, but I really love the books I have read. It was also nice to meet you, and I’m glad you enjoy the joke!🏡📚❤️

PS. Alana isn’t my real name. I just really like that name, so I used it as a pen name. (I’d used a lot of ‘names’ in that sentence).😸

      • Lorelei A.

Oh, wow! That’s so cool that you have a pen name!!! I was always thinking of doing that, but I have too many ideas that I can’t choose one! XD Alana is a pretty name, though. ❤

        • Alana

When I started with a pen name, I had so many ideas too. So I decided to go with a name that started with the first letter of the alphabet and see which one I like the most. Alana was my favorite, so I went with that one. I’m glad you like it! I think Lorelei is a beautiful name!😻❤️

  • Em Elizabeth

Oh my gosh the last two books of the Narnia series are actually on the summer TBR list that I made last month! I’ve read all the others, but then I buy new books, and, well, you know how that goes. But I’m definitely excited to see how C.S Lewis wrapped up the series. I love the fantasy genre, and Narnia is such a wonderful place to take a mental adventure!

    • Alana

Hi, Em. (Is it OK I call you Em?) That is so cool that they are on your summer TBR list. I LOVE the books AND the movies! I understand how it is when you buy new books and forget about your old ones. (Except when it comes to Little House). I thought C.S. Lewis did a wonderful job on how he finished the book series. I LOVE the fantasy genre too, and they (and Lord of the Rings) are the inspiration for my fantasy books that I’m writing. Glad to have you here!🦁📚❤️

    • Alana

Hi, Mahitha. That is cool that you’ve read some of these books. You’re welcome. I hope you enjoy these amazing books!📚❤️

  • Sisters Three

    Little house, check!!!
    Narnia, Check!
    The Healer’s Apprentice, check!
Waiting on the Captive Kingdom to come available at the library…
The other two sound good too!

Some of our favorite action/adventure books include The WingFeather Saga by Andrew Peterson, The Green Ember Series by S. D. Smith (Don’t judge they’re really good books), and The Wars of the Realm Series by Chuck Black….all super good!!!

    • Alana

Hi Sisters Three! Little House and Narnia are my Favorites! I also really love the Hagenheim Series by Melanie Dickerson and the Ascendance Series by Jennifer A. Nielsen! Those other books you listed sound really cool! Happy to have you here and thanks for commenting!❤️❤️❤️❤️

      • Sisters Three

Yes! Little House and Narnia are great! We grew up with our dad reading them to us! Yes, both of those are great series as well…Thanks!
You’re so welcome! We somehow ended up crossing paths with Issabelle on GoodReads and saw that you guys were three sisters who blogged together like us! We think it so super cool!!!

  • Corrie.S.P

Woah! You guys are sisters??!? I thought you were all friends. This list is really cool! I love narnia! By spending ur time in narnia do u mean reading the books and watching the movies?

    • Alana

Hi, Corrie! I’m am so so so sorry that this is late. School has been keeping me pretty busy. I’m glad you like the list! I did a joke about spending my time in Narnia like I was actually IN Narnia. But, yeah, I have basically been reading the books and watching the movies. (And still trying to find my way INTO Narnia XD)! Love your profile pic😍❤

        • Madeleine

Haha, yeah it is. Although this comment is also late. Sorry about that. I love re-reading old series that I really, really, love, too. You’re welcome.
